Pets and kid shows, school shows.

Kids and pets, school shows.

After doing hundreds of kid shows I thought I would pass on some tips about working with kids and pets for things like school shows.

Here are some things that really help when working with kids and pets. Not all kids want to get close to the pet and many get over excited. Tell the kids ahead of time that everyone who wants to will get a chance to pet them as long as they are good and obey the rules. Tell them you do not want to scare the pet. That helps with the over excited kids. Tell them it is OK if they do not want to pet the dog. Some kids are scared of the pets or may have allergies. Tell them that if they sit nicely until called, you will allow five or six to come up at a time and pet the dog. If giving treats, only you should give the treats or every kid will want to. If in a school, teachers are always willing to help if you let them know what you need.

Review: The Illusion/Court Theatre | Newcity Stage

By now, one knows what to expect from director Charles Newell: bold sets and striking design “Uncle Vanya”; big emotions and in the best possible way sentimentality “Carousel,” “Caroline, or Change”; playful meta-theatrics “Titus Andronicus”; narrative coherence amidst structural sophistication and dense vernacular “Rock and Roll,” “Arcadia”.

Official Google Blog: Biking directions added to Google Maps

Posted by: montysmagic on: March 10, 2010

Today we’ve added biking directions and extensive bike trail data to Google Maps for the U.S. My team has been keeping close tabs on all the public support for biking directions that’s been steadily coming in, but we knew that when we added the feature, we wanted to do it right: we wanted to include as much bike trail data as possible, provide efficient routes, allow riders to customize their trip, make use of bike lanes, calculate rider-friendly routes that avoid big hills and customize the look of the map for cycling to encourage folks to hop on their bikes. So that’s exactly what we’ve done.

The Clown Network – Clown Events

Clown Events

Here is a partial listing of regional and national clown events. I will update the information and add more events as I learn about them. If you feel there is a clown-related event that should be included, let me know. Links to organizations that hold annual conventions for face painting, balloons, and magic are included on their respective pages.

Why go to a convention?

Conventions are a great place to meet other professional clowns, attend workshops, enter competitions, and try out the latest items from their dealers. I was hesitant to go to a convention when I was first getting started. I didn’t think I knew enough, but I soon discovered that they are a great place for new clowns.
